It can be really difficult to know where to start when looking for the perfect dress for your daughter’s wedding. It’s one of the most important days in both of your lives, and you need to find an outfit that makes you look and feel amazing!
Our best advice is to find something that you feel confident and comfortable in! One of our top tips is to remember how long a wedding day is, so don’t choose an outfit that you feel uncomfortable in or that you need to wear uncomfortable shoes with, which will mean you can’t make the most of the dance floor! You need to be able to relax and enjoy the day focusing on your daughter.
You also want to think practical and maybe don’t opt for a dress that limits your movement, e.g. bardot sleeves that you won’t be able to move your arms in. You don’t want to be worrying that you can’t hug your daughter or her wedding day.
Choose your favourite feature, and let’s start with showing that off…
Love your waist, want to show your curves or get those Pilates arms on display? Then go for it! Start there and look for outfits that flatter and show off your favourite asset – don’t be afraid to showcase your silhouette!
Equally, if you have an area of concern, then let’s draw attention away from it without feeling the need to cover up your entire body. By choosing an asset you like first you can focus on that and choose a dress that makes you feel good rather than fixating on an area you may not like. If you don’t want your arms on show, then choose dresses with a sleeve or off-the-shoulder detailing to draw focus away but be sure to choose a dress that shows another feature off, like your legs.
Don’t feel obliged to wear something fitted if that isn’t your style; there are so many shapes available for all shapes and sizes, so there is no need to wear a super fitted dress if you will worry about pictures being taken from all angles, because trust us, they will be!
Our best advice is to choose what makes you feel good and don’t dress in whatever you feel a ‘mother of the bride’ has to wear.
That age old saying makes sense…”The best thing a woman can wear is confidence!”
